Creating a custom 404 error page can give your website a polished and cohesive feel. Here’s a step-by-step guide to setting it up in Flatsome using UX Builder.
Step 1: Log into WordPress
- Start by logging into your WordPress dashboard.
Step 2: Create a UX Block
- Once inside WordPress, go to UX Blocks.
- Click Add New to create a new UX block.
- Name it something recognizable, like Error 404, to easily identify it later.
- Hit Publish once it’s named.
Step 3: Open UX Builder
- Open the UX Builder to start customizing your error page.
- You have the option to design the page from scratch by adding individual elements or use pre-made layouts.
Step 4: Use a Pre-Made Layout (Optional)
- If you’d like to save time, go to the Flatsome Studio to access pre-made layouts.
- Select from four pre-made error page layouts specifically designed for 404 pages.
- If you don’t see the layouts in Flatsome Studio, you can find them under Full Pages.
- Once you’ve chosen a layout, import it. This will automatically add all elements, including images, to the page.
Step 5: Customize Your 404 Page
- Edit any text, links, or icons to match your branding or specific needs.
- When you’re satisfied with your changes, click Update to save.
Step 6: Set the Custom 404 Page
- Head to Flatsome > Advanced in your WordPress dashboard.
- Scroll to find the 404 page settings.
- Select the custom block you just created (e.g., Error 404).
- Save the changes.
Step 7: Test Your New 404 Page
- Visit a non-existent page on your site (like a random URL that doesn’t lead to content).
- You should now see your customized 404 page displayed.
And that’s it! You now have a fully customized 404 page using the Flatsome UX Builder.
